UK festival watch: Latitude and Sonisphere make announcements

Sonisphere confirm Friday night headliner whilst Latitude unveil first wave of acts.

Sonisphere have announced The Prodigy as their third and final headliners.

They top the bill at the festival, which makes its return after two years, alongside metal legends Metallica and Iron Maiden.

Sonisphere said: “Famous for the sort of energy fuelled, insane and pulsating show that you can feel in your bones, we know that The Prodigy will bring something very special to Sonisphere.”

No other acts have been confirmed for the festival which takes place at Knebworth House, Hertfordshire over the weekend of July 4-6 2014.

Tickets and a deposit scheme for Sonisphere are available here.

Latitude have also announced their first wave of acts today, which includes headliners Two Door Cinema Club.

The Irish indie band make a UK exclusive appearance at the festival.

Bassist Kevin Baird said: “Over the past 5 years we’ve made the progression from playing in the small tents to being close to the top of the bill on the main stage. Headlining a great festival like Latitude is obviously quite a big deal for us but we also feel like it is the next natural step.”

“We’re ready to headline. We’re ready to smash it.”

Also confirmed is a joint appearance from Scandinavian icons Röyksopp and Robyn, who bring their Do It Again 2014 tour to Suffolk.

The Norwegian electronic duo and the Swedish indie-pop star will play a collaborative UK exclusive set.

Joining them on the bill are Californian sister trio Haim, Billy Bragg, soul legend Booker T. Jones, Anna Calvi, Phosphorescent, pianist Nils Frahm, Goat, Cass McCombs, Chicago singer/songwriter Willis Earl Beal, San Fermin, breakthrough artist Marika Hackman, Son Lux and Josephine Foster.

Latitude takes place over the weekend of July 17-20 at Henham Park Estate, in Suffolk.
