Outkast set to headline Bestival

Reformed hip-hop duo Outkast have been unveiled as the first headliners for this year’s Bestival on the Isle Of Wight.

André 3000 and Big Boi will hit the island for one of only two UK festival appearances this summer following their return from a seven year hiatus.

Bestival have also announced that their theme for this year will be Desert Island Disco, with punters encouraged to bring out the grass skirts, coconut bras and novelty sunglasses for a fancy dress parade on the Saturday.

In a statement, Bestival organiser and Radio 1 DJ Rob Da Bank said: “Hey ya! By the power invested in me as chief Bestival booker, I’m pretty darn excited to announce that Outkast are headlining Bestival this year! We’ve fought hard to get the recently reunited legendary hip-hop duo on to the ferry, it truly is gonna be the Bestival yet!”

Bestival takes place at Robin Hill Country Park on the Isle Of Wight from 4-7 September. Last year saw headline performances from Elton John, Snoop Dogg and Fatboy Slim. No other acts have been confirmed for this year’s edition.

Outkast will also play Wireless in London and Birmingham as part of a worldwide tour to celebrate their 20th anniversary.
